Alcohol: A Very Dangerous Drug

Colleague X hasn't spoken in weeks, I'm caught up in a race row and recently things have gotten out of hand on this blog and some unpleasant language has been used. What happened was that I was extremely drunk last night after taking advantage of some cheap drinks in a pub in Yoker (£1.50 for a pint of Fosters, 80p a buttle of Bud!). Anyway, to cut to the chase, I ended up getting into a silly drunken fight at someone's house. After, I randomly decided to check the latest comments on my blog. I saw one from someone pretending to be the police (how sad is that?) and one from someone called Adam who was trying to be Mr Righteous and tell me what I should and shouldn't say on my blog (Adam, I've nothing against you but you used the name "Dr Esteban Ramirez" on Blogger instead of your real name - enough said about that, I think). These comments made me angry at the time, and mainly due to the testosterone/adrenalin/alcohol mix in my bloodstream I left some abusive remarks.

Now, I apologise if anyone was offended by these comments - I've done this sort of thing before when drunk and looking back it really makes me cringe - but what I won't do is apologise for any mock racist remarks I made. I am opinionated and I say what I feel, not what society tells me to say. Get over it!

This episode has made me realise that I've no longer any desire to share details of my life with the public. My current readership is not the one I would want to share my thoughts, ideas and humour (however funny, offensive or shocking) with. Sorry, but morbid fuckers who talk about headstones, saddos pretending to be the police, people who think it's acceptable to go on about the "blecks" in a mock South African accent but then come over all high and mighty when I use the word "nigger" (there, I said it again)? Dr E Ramirez? Nope, sorry, our views and attitudes differ greatly and I think it's best all round if I keep my proverbial mouth shut from now on.

It's the readers who have been killing the blog. I don't mean you, Martin - at least you have positive and constructive things to say, which is more than I can say for the rest.

Yes, I was left out of the rant, I felt disappointed.

I think I've had enough of abuse and racism for a while, so sorry you missed out. I should steer clear of the alcopops for a while too - evil stuff. Oh no, but wait - the bi-annual work night out is this week! Ah well, I'll just need to make sure I stay away from the blog this weekend...

I don't feel I have said anything on here that hasn't been constructive and I don't see how my parodying of white South Africans can even be interpreted as racism on my part.

I also don't feel that I was coming over high and mighty I merely suggested that you take out the comment as IMHO it could cause a lot of offense.

It's good to feel. Whether you're black or white.

Iain, I saw you'd released photos from South Africa featuring you mingling happily with dark-skinned people (note: "dark-skinned" - nobody dare accuse me of racism). As this comes shortly after your comment below, is this you trying to prove a point?

Comment "above", should I say!

Well there's nothing racist about calling black people black.

Wasn't trying to prove a point as I haven't got one to prove! You'll see I was in a photo-adding mood that day and added a load of others aside from the South Africa ones....

Think the point Dunc is making and Iain, you are sort of confirming in this return accusation, is that you can't say anything without someone putting a label on you or taking it out of context.

Yes, Duncan took it further than most, but some would say that even imatating certain white South Africans was fanning the flames of racism.

Duncan clearly was being 'post-modern' or 'out-there' when he said what he said, but ultimately he said it to make us re-coil but in the end laugh. Racism is far more deep rooted in someone than a few words, racism is discrimination or bullying. (In my opinion). I'd imagine people would choose equality of life over some name-calling ... not that I am condoning name-calling, but my point remains.

Its kind of ironic that a guy calls himself Dr Esteban Ramirez when it isn't his real name. Presumably he wants us to see that it's a joke and not his real name ....... it is on the assumption the reader has some grey matter in their head!!!! To understand the context even. We should all have realised that about Duncan's 'racist' comment .... I mean, he even added a disclaimer to achieve such an end!
